Photos: Atiku meets Amaechi after ADC presidential primary

ABUJA — Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2027 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday met with his major rival in the party’s presidential primary, former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Atiku emerged winner of the recently concluded ADC presidential primary, defeating Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to clinch the party’s ticket.
Amaechi had, before the official declaration of the results, rejected the outcome of the exercise, alleging that the process was fraught with irregularities.

However, Atiku, in his acceptance speech after the primary, appealed to Amaechi and other aggrieved members of the party to close ranks and work together ahead of the 2027 general election.
Though details of Thursday’s meeting were still sketchy as at press time, neither Atiku nor Amaechi had addressed journalists on the outcome of the talks.

Sources within the party, however, said the meeting may not be unconnected with efforts by Atiku to reconcile aggrieved party stakeholders and secure Amaechi’s support ahead of the presidential election.
