Primaries: Delta APC appeal panel receives five petitions
The All Progressives Congress has confirmed that its National Assembly Primaries Appeal Committee for Delta State has received five petitions following the party’s recently concluded primaries in the state.
Chairman of the committee, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam, in a statement made this known while speaking with journalists at the party secretariat in Asaba on Tuesday, where he said the panel had already begun reviewing complaints submitted by aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders.
“We have been receiving petitions and we will prepare our reports later. The process is still ongoing because the day is not yet over,” Ujam said.
He explained that the committee was constituted in line with party guidelines to ensure proper handling of disputes arising from the conduct of the National Assembly primaries in Delta State.
According to him, the panel first arrived in the state shortly after the House of Representatives primaries and later reconvened following the senatorial district primaries to continue its assignment.
Ujam added that each petition would be carefully examined before any final conclusions are drawn.
“As we receive the petitions, we are already reviewing them and making our notes on each one,” he said. “But you do not expect me to divulge what we are doing.”
The appeal process is part of the party’s internal mechanism to address grievances and maintain order following competitive primary elections.
The committee is expected to compile its findings and submit a report after completing its review of all petitions.
