PRP officially welcomes Datti Baba-Ahmed

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has formally welcomed Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), into its fold.
Baba-Ahmed had announced his departure from the LP on Channels Televisionâs âPolitics Todayâ on Tuesday, stating that his move to the PRP would take effect at midnight.
He cited internal crises, disagreements, and a departure from the founding ideals of the Labour Party as his reasons for leaving.
The PRP, via a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, welcomed Baba-Ahmed and his supporters.
The party described his entry as a major boost to their vision for a reformed and prosperous Nigeria.
It further noted that Baba-Ahmedâs decision to join the PRP marked âa new dawnâ and reinforces its commitment to national renewal, push for integrity in governance, improved security and economic transformation.
The PRP reiterated that its platform remains open to all patriotic Nigerians who share its vision of building a just, secure, and united nation.
It urged citizens from all walks of life to rally behind its agenda aimed at addressing the countryâs challenges.
Central to the partyâs roadmap is its five-point agenda, which focuses on restoring credibility in leadership, tackling insecurity through institutional reforms, revitalising the economy and restructuring the country to ensure fairness and efficiency in governance.
The party emphasised that these priorities are designed to move Nigeria beyond rhetoric to tangible progress, particularly in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and rural development.
