Tinubu wins APC presidential primary in Ondo with 181,996 votes
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the returning officer for the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in Ondo State, has declared President Bola Tinubu as the winner of Saturday’s election in the state.
Aiyedatiwa, while announcing the results of the primary on Sunday in Akure, said Tinubu polled 181,966 votes to defeat his contender, Mr Stanley Osifo, who scored zero votes.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the results were announced after collation from the 18 local government area returning officers.
Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the state has 193,334 registered APC members, while 181,996 were accredited for the exercise.
He added that a total of 181,996 votes were cast during the election.
The governor, while speaking after the exercise, described the APC presidential primary as successful and peaceful in the state.
“Party members demonstrated unity and loyalty by unanimously supporting President Tinubu during the exercise.
“Although two aspirants contested for the APC presidential ticket, the second contestant, Mr Osifo Osayeme Stanley, failed to secure a single vote, while President Tinubu won all the votes cast in the state,” he said.
The governor added that the percentage of registered APC members who participated in the primary was about 93 per cent.
Aiyedatiwa said that the state has fully aligned with the APC, noting that the party is targeting one million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Speaking, the state APC Chairman, Mr Babatunde Kolawole, commended Aiyedatiwa and party members for their commitment to a peaceful process.
In his goodwill message, a former Governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, lauded state governors for their support for the President.
According to him, the support being enjoyed by the President from governors across the country amounts to an elite consensus that would produce positive outcomes.
Mimiko also expressed delight that Ondo State currently has three substantive ministers and thanked the President for such recognition for the state.
