US Mission in Nigeria announced this in a post shared on its official X handle on Sunday.

According to the mission, Memorial Day is a US federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May to honour American military personnel who lost their lives in service to the country.

The statement read, “The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day—a U.S. federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May in honor of U.S. military personnel who lost their lives in service of their country.”

Routine consular services, visa processing, and American citizen services are expected to be unavailable on May 25.

Individuals with scheduled appointments are advised to check for any rescheduling notices or contact the mission through alternative channels once operations resume.
