Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has brought renewed attention to longstanding visa fraud allegations against Dr. Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, operator of TMT Travels, an agency based in Owerri.
The allegations originally surfaced in November 2025, when more than 300 clients came forward accusing the agency of collecting between N1.5 million and N6 million per person in exchange for services that turned out to be fraudulent including fake visas and undelivered travel documentation while also withholding clients’ passports.
The total financial damage to victims was estimated at around N500 million.
Police had at the time invited Onukwubiri for questioning and recovered nine passports in the process.
In a video shared online on Thursday, VeryDarkMan reignited the conversation but sparked fresh controversy by stating that he would prioritise securing refunds for non-Igbo victims, given that the majority of those defrauded were of Igbo origin.
The comment split public opinion sharply, with some applauding his push for accountability while others accused him of introducing ethnic bias into what should be a straightforward justice matter.
Meanwhile, victims continue to come forward with their accounts, and the situation has been further inflamed by the fact that TMT Travels continues to advertise its services online, a move that many feel reflects a brazen disregard for the damage caused and has further eroded whatever trust the agency had left.
