Who is Tulsi Gabbard's husband whose bone cancer cited as reason for resignation amid Iran war row?
This Video Is Trending Right Now
The chatter that Tulsi Gabbard was on her way out dominated Washington for days as the DNI was missing in action for weeks, as the US attacked Iran. Gabbard’s deputy Joe Kent resigned from his post in March, making Gabbard’s impending exit only a matter of time. On Friday, the Director of National Intelligence submitted her resignation and did not mention anything about her ‘disagreement’ over the Iran war. Gabbard said her husband had recently been diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer for which she had to step away from her duty.“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” she wrote. “My husband, Abraham, has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”“Abraham has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage — standing steadfast through my deployment to East Africa on a Joint Special Operations mission, multiple political campaigns, and now my service in this role. His strength and love have sustained me through every challenge. I can not in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position,” Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation letter said.“While we have made significant progress at the ODNI — advancing unprecedented transparency and restoring integrity to the intelligence community — I recognize there is still important work to be done. I am fully committed to ensuring a smooth and thorough transition over the coming weeks so that you and tour team experienc no disruption in leadership or momentum,” she wrote.
Who is Abraham Williams?
Abraham Williams is a freelance cinematographer and editor. He is Gabbard’s second husband as Gabbard was earlier married to Eduardi Tamayo in 2002 at the age of 21. In 2015, Gabbard married Abraham in a traditional Vedic Hindu wedding. Tulsi Gabbard and Abraham met each other when Gabbard was campaigning in 2012 to join the House of Representatives. Abraham was a volunteer in her 2012 run for a seat in the House of Representatives. His mother Anya Anthony had managed Gabbard’s district office in Honolulu.Abraham took many photos that were used for Gabbard’s campaign.
Donald Trump’s statement on Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation
“Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th. Her wonderful husband, Abraham, has been recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and she, rightfully, wants to be with him, bringing him back to good health as they currently fight a tough battle together,” the president posted on Truth Social“I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever. Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her. Her highly respected Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Aaron Lukas, will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote.
