Abia CP orders Police officers to impound vehicles without number plates

The Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danlandi Isa, has directed Police officers in the Command timpound vehicles without number plates and those with covered number plates.

He also directed that such vehicles be thoroughly investigated and the cases diligently prosecuted in court.

The Commissioner of Police gave the order, on Thursday in Umuahia when he briefed strategic officers of the Command about the outcome of the recent conference of senior officers and the Inspector-General of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

CP Danlandi Isa informed the Area Commanders, DPOs, VCRU Commanders and the HoDs that the directive to impound the vehicles without number plates came from the Inspector- General of Police, IGP, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.


He warned officers to be proactive and ensure adequate security in Abia State and directed officers to take the fight to the enclaves of criminals, avoid complacency, particularly during this rainy season, when criminal elements often exploit environmental conditions to perpetrate crime.

While appreciating officers for their hard work and dedication in ensuring safety and maintenance of law and order, the Commissioner of Police encouraged officers to do more by remaining civil, professional and respectful in the discharge of their duties.

He emphasised strict adherence to human rights, including the protection of the rights of suspects under investigation, as well as promoting intelligence-led investigation.

He further warned the strategic officers to ensure high tone of discipline and constantly remind their personnel about when to use firearms in line with Force Order 237.
