Afrobeats musician Ayra Starr has acknowledged that she would probably be jobless if she hadn’t achieved success in the entertainment sector, attributing her life’s trajectory to her musical profession.
The singer discussed her ascent to popularity, her experience with Mavin Records, and the realities of living in the spotlight in a recent interview with EE72.
“I would literally be jobless if I weren’t doing music. I don’t even believe that I would produce material. It would take a lot of effort.
“I would simply be enjoying my mother’s food and lounging around her house,” she remarked.
The 24-year-old also remembered how thrilled she was to find out that the Mavin team and Don Jazzy had been listening to her music prior to her signing.
When I learned that they were enjoying my song, I was ecstatic. She said, “You know who it is.”
Ayra Starr acknowledged that there are drawbacks to being famous, saying that she occasionally wishes the world knew less about her because she frequently speaks candidly in interviews.
“I wish more people didn’t know about me. I can’t stop chatting once the camera starts. She said, “I feel like I overshare.”
Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, signed with Mavin Records in 2020 after Don Jazzy found her on social media.
Since then, she has developed into one of Nigeria’s largest music exports, releasing albums like “19 & Dangerous” and “The Year I Turned 21,” and receiving several honors, accolades, and recognition on a global scale.
