Businessman, Wale Jana has come to the defence of Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, following widespread public criticism over his marriage and recent child announcement with celebrity fashion designer Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo, widely known as CEO Luminee.

The development sparked heavy backlash across social media. Many Nigerians expressed shock regarding how the prominent fashion entrepreneur could choose to marry and have a child with the actor, who was convicted of child sexual assault in July 2022 and completed his prison sentence in late 2025. 

Reacting to the online outrage, Jana argued that Baba Ijesha’s criminal record and status as a registered sex offender do not preclude him from receiving divine mercy or starting over.

 In a public statement supporting the actor, Jana emphasized that a past conviction should not limit an individual’s path to a new beginning or redemption.
