Babcock University has distanced itself from a purported academic certificate linked to popular streamer and comedian Carter Efe, describing the document as fraudulent and warning the public against forged credentials falsely attributed to the institution.
In a statement issued by its management, the university said the document, allegedly presented as an honorary certificate awarded to Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, for achieving a “First Class Upper,” did not originate from the institution.
“Babcock University unequivocally states that this document is false, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the University,” the statement read.
The university said it does not issue honorary certificates to recognize undergraduate academic performance, adding that academic excellence is only recognized through official degree certificates and academic transcripts issued by the Office of the Registrar.
It also noted that “First Class Upper” is not an academic classification it recognizes, stressing that the correct designation is “First Class Honours.”
The institution urged employers, educational institutions, government agencies, professional bodies, international organizations, and members of the public to disregard the document and any similar certificates purportedly issued outside its established academic processes.
Babcock warned that anyone involved in producing, circulating, or using forged academic documents to obtain employment, admission, promotion, professional recognition, immigration benefits, or any other advantage could face investigation and prosecution under applicable laws.
The university added that it has begun legal action against those responsible for the fake certificate and reiterated that it would pursue both civil and criminal remedies against anyone who unlawfully uses or misrepresents its name, logo, seal, or academic credentials.
It encouraged the public to verify the authenticity of its academic certificates through the Office of the Registrar before relying on them for any official purpose.
Recall that Carter had started showing off his alleged certificate to show off his intelligence after rapper Y Cee warned of an “olodo uprising” in which he fingered his colleague Peller as a front runner.
