Former MLB star Gorkys Hernandez’s wife d!es in Venezuela earthquake

Former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Gorkys Hernandez has announced the death of his wife, Deisy Maria Tovar De Hernandez, who was killed during the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela earlier this week.
Hernandez shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional post on Instagram on Saturday, June 27, alongside a photograph of his wife, paying tribute to her and expressing his grief.
In the post, the former outfielder described Deisy as “the queen of my life” and “the most beautiful, beautiful, precious, the best woman in the world,” thanking her for standing by him through difficult moments. He also prayed that she would continue to watch over him and their family. “You can now fly high with God,” he wrote, asking her to “guide me to move forward and lift our family.”

According to reports, Deisy was staying at the Hotel Eduards in Macuto when the powerful twin earthquakes struck. She had travelled with Hernandez, who was scheduled to play for La Guaira Delfines in the Venezuelan baseball league. Local reports said players rushed back to the hotel after the earthquakes in search of their loved ones, but Deisy could not be rescued.
Hernandez played parts of six Major League Baseball seasons between 2012 and 2019. During his career, he featured for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins. The couple’s date of marriage has not been publicly disclosed.
