Following a community altercation involving young people from the villages of Inkil and Bujinji on the outskirts of Bauchi, two people have been confirmed deceased and eight more have been injured.
Zagazola Makama, a security and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region, revealed this in a report.
The violence, according to the report, happened on June 21, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., when young people from Inkil village allegedly attacked Bujinji in retaliation for a long-standing conflict between the two communities.
Makama revealed that eight people were hurt during the altercation to varied degrees.
The victims were taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Bauchi for medical attention after a police patrol squad under the command of a senior officer responded to a distress call.
According to the report, medical staff subsequently verified the deaths of two individuals, Jibir Shuaibu and Al Amin Mohammad Aliyu, both of whom were Inkil community members.
According to Makama, security authorities are still keeping an eye on events to prevent a breakdown of law and order and more violence, while security personnel have since been sent to the impacted communities to restore normalcy.
According to the article, the incident is still being investigated, and the perpetrators of the assault will be held accountable.
