DSS intercepts medical supplies for injured ISWAP fighters

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and forest guards have intercepted a consignment of medical supplies meant for injured fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State, Zagazola Makama is reporting.
According to the credible counter-insurgency platform focused on the Lake Chad region, the supplies were intercepted on Friday.
This was during a coordinated operation in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The seized items included substantial quantities of pain relief medications, anti-malaria injections, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical products alongside basic consumables believed to be part of battlefield resupply materials.
Zagazola Makama reported that the consignment was linked to suspected attempts to replenish ISWAP fighters who suffered heavy casualties and disruptions in recent intelligence-led operations involving US-AFRICOM and Nigerian security forces.
Although officials did not provide operational details, they described the interception as part of intensified efforts to dismantle insurgent logistics chains, particularly those enabling the movement of medical and material support to remote enclaves.
The report said preliminary investigations suggested the supplies were being moved discreetly in small batches to avoid detection by security patrols operating along forest corridors.
The intercepted materials have since been taken into custody for forensic examination.
