Gov Idris calls for patience, patriotism as Nigeria marks Democracy Day

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has called on residents to remain patient, law-abiding and committed to democratic values as Nigeria marks Democracy Day.

In a statement issued on Friday, the governor urged citizens to continue praying for peace, stability and national progress, stressing that democracy requires collective responsibility and understanding.

Idris called on residents to uphold the rule of law, respect constituted authority and avoid actions capable of undermining public order and social harmony.

He also encouraged members of the public to report security threats through appropriate channels, saying a peaceful society is essential for democratic governance.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents through investments in key sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, water supply and social welfare programmes.

He further reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining peace and security, noting that collaboration among security agencies, traditional rulers and local communities has contributed to efforts to curb banditry and other criminal activities.

Idris pledged continued support for security operations and community policing initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of residents.

He also urged Nigerians to place the nation’s interest above personal or sectional considerations and work together to strengthen democracy and national development.

The governor wished residents of Kebbi State and Nigerians a peaceful and meaningful Democracy Day celebration.
