Governor Issues Fresh Directive to NYSC Members Ahead of Service Year

Throughout their service year, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members assigned to Zamfara state were tasked by Governor Dauda Lawal with upholding the highest standards of integrity, discipline, hard labor, and service to mankind.

During the 2026 Batch B Stream I corps members’ swearing-in ceremony on Monday at the UBEC Orientation Camp on Bypass Road in Gusau, the governor delivered the charge.

Governor Lawal, represented by Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, congratulated the corps members on completing their academic goals and moving on to the next stage of national service.

He said that their graduation was evidence of years of hard work, tenacity, and devotion to reaching their academic objectives.

Mr. Lawal urged the corps members to make a significant contribution to Zamfara State’s development, pointing out that the state is blessed with an abundance of natural resources and a rich cultural legacy.

“Let’s collaborate to establish a new Zamfara State.” He remarked, “Our people are renowned for their warmth, tenacity, and strong sense of community.”

Governor Lawal reiterated the administration’s dedication to the security and well-being of all state citizens, especially corps personnel stationed in different Zamfara localities.

Speaking on the next general elections in 2027, the governor urged corps members who might be chosen to run for office to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, patriotism, and a strong sense of duty.

He declared, “Your behavior and dedication will greatly contribute to peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections.”

Additionally, Governor Lawal praised the National Youth Service Corps for its long-lasting contributions to the development, unity, and integration of the country over the last 53 years.

“The program continues to be among the most effective nation-building initiatives in Nigeria’s history,” he continued.

Additionally, he urged corps members to actively participate in all camp activities, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, which is intended to provide them with practical skills for self-reliance and future success, in order to fully utilize the opportunities offered during the three-week orientation course.

Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmad, the NYSC State Coordinator, thanked Governor Lawal in his speech for his ongoing assistance and prompt actions that have contributed to the expansion and advancement of the program in Zamfara State.

Additionally, he asked the corps members to keep the fundamental principles of the NYSC program, maintain discipline, respect one another, and stay focused during the orientation exercise.
