A ride-hailing driver, Ameyaw Dankwah, has shared a shocking experience after he unknowingly transported two suspected armed robbers who were later linked to the killing of a police officer.
In a video shared by ZionFelix on June 25, 2026, the driver explained that he accepted what appeared to be a regular trip request from Kwabenya to Pokuase ACP Estates.
He said the two male passengers initially behaved normally, but things changed when they asked him to abandon the route displayed on his ride-hailing application and take a different direction.
According to Ameyaw, he questioned the change of route but later followed their instructions.
He said while driving along the new route, he noticed a vehicle behind him flashing its headlights repeatedly, which made him suspicious.
He eventually stopped and realised the vehicle was being driven by police officers.
“I saw a car following me, flashing its headlights three times, then I pulled over. There were two guys sitting in my car, one beside me and the other behind me. The one behind me got out and started running. One police officer caught the one running and brought him back,” he said.
The driver said armed police officers surrounded his vehicle and arrested both passengers.
He added that one of the officers questioned him about how he came to be transporting the suspects, after which he explained that he was only carrying out his ride-hailing duties.
Ameyaw said he was later asked to follow the police vehicle to the station, where he learned the shocking details about the passengers.
According to him, the officers told him the men were allegedly part of a robbery gang connected to the killing of a police officer around the Ablekuma filling station.
“The police said, ‘Turn and follow this car.’ So I turned. On our way, I asked the policeman sitting beside me, ‘What is the problem?’ Then he said to me, ‘These guys were armed robbers who killed a policeman around Ablekuma filling station. They were three, and one was arrested around the Togo border, and now they have got these two.’ So I followed them to the estate gate, and they parked the car there. They asked me to end the trip and paid me, then I went to my house,” he added.
The incident has raised concerns about how unsuspecting transport operators can unknowingly become involved in criminal activities while carrying out their daily work.
