The Management of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, has confirmed a security breach at the institute on Tuesday.

Dr Osime Samuel, Head, Public Affairs of NIPSS confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

Though Samuel did not state the magnitude of the incident, he, however, said that the situation had been brought under control by the security agencies.

“NIPSS wishes to inform the public that a security incident occurred in the vicinity of the institute in the early hours of Tuesday.

“The situation was promptly brought under control through the swift response of security personnel and relevant security agencies.

“There is currently no threat to the safety of participants, staff, residents or facilities of the institute. Normal activities are continuing as scheduled.”

According to him, investigations are ongoing, it would be premature to speculate on the nature, scope, or outcome of the incident.

“The Institute therefore cannot confirm the details currently circulating on social media and other unofficial platforms,” Samuel said.

However, unconfirmed reports disclosed that gunmen attacked the institute and three of its internal security personnel were affected by the attack.
