Two 13-year-old girls who were purportedly abducted from their Taraba State community were saved by the Bauchi State Police Command, which also detained two individuals connected to the case in Bauchi State’s Kirfi Local Government Area.
After leaving their homes in Fangari Hamlet, Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State, the victims, known as Aisha and Zainab, are said to have gone missing since March.
The breakthrough came after the father of one of the girls filed a complaint on March 10, 2026, claiming that his daughter and her friend had vanished and could not be found despite their families’ best efforts, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib.
The two females were discovered in Bara Town, Kirfi LGA, Bauchi State, as a result of police investigations and intelligence collection.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations showed that two suspects, Auwal Muhammad and Abdulgaffar Musa, who are both 20 years old and from Unguwar Zangoma in Bara Town, allegedly plotted to transport the minors from Taraba State to Bauchi State without their parents’ permission.
The rescued girls were kept under police protection until they could reunite with their family, and the suspects were subsequently taken into custody.
For additional research and prosecution, the matter has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Speaking about the development, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to fighting child-related crimes.
“The Command will not put up with any kidnapping or exploitation of children.
He advised parents and guardians to keep a tight eye on their kids and to report any suspicious activity to the closest police station.
Residents were reassured by the police leadership that it will keep up its efforts to protect vulnerable people and make sure that those who commit crimes involving children are held accountable.
