New details have emerged about the incarceration of former Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu after her extradition from the United States to serve her 10-year prison sentence.
The update follows public questions about whether she had actually been taken into custody in Ghana and calls for confirmation of her whereabouts.
According to investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, she was first received by security officials at the Accra International Airport after arriving in Ghana.
He reported that she was handed over to the Bureau of National Investigations and later transferred to the Ghana Prisons Service.
He said she arrived with a medical condition that had been communicated by US authorities before the transfer.
“She was admitted to the Police Hospital in Accra, where she received treatment for several days.”
After doctors cleared her to begin her sentence, she was moved under prison custody.
Manasseh stated that she was then transferred to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison after receiving medical care and medication.
He added that she is currently being held in the female section of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, with limited access allowed for family visits.
Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was extradited after Ghana secured approval from US authorities to bring her back to serve her sentence.
She was convicted in 2024 in absentia for offences including causing financial loss to the state and stealing.
Court findings stated that her actions during her tenure as MASLOC CEO between 2013 and 2016 led to a loss of nearly GH¢90 million to the state.
