Nigerian Army repels terrorist attack, neutralises suspect in Zamfara

Troops of 1 Brigade Operation FANSAN YANMA, have repelled a terrorist attack and neutralised one suspect during a follow-up operation in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
This was made known in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
Makama said the troops responded swiftly to the attack at about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of terrorist activities in Kanoma District.
He disclosed that the troops moved to the scene and made contact with the assailants at Kanoma Hill, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
According to him, the terrorists were overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower and were forced to retreat from the area.
The security expert noted that the troops subsequently conducted exploitation operations ahead of Kanoma Hill and encountered suspected terrorists riding on two motorcycles.
Makama reiterated that the suspects were immediately engaged, resulting in the neutralisation of one terrorist, while others escaped.
“Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine loaded with four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists,” he said.
