NSCDC Foils Kidnap Attempt, Rescues Two Victims After Gun Battle in Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have foiled a combined kidnapping and cattle rustling attempt in the Bakin Komau area of Dangora, Kiru Local Government Area, rescuing two abducted individuals and repelling the attackers.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, the incident occurred on Thursday when armed assailants attacked a 70-year-old shepherd identified as Alhaji Saleh, inflicting serious injuries on him, before abducting his two children and attempting to rustle livestock.

Upon receiving a distress call, NSCDC personnel stationed near the Dansoshiya Forest quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the criminals in a gun battle.

Overwhelmed by the response of the operatives, the suspects abandoned the kidnapped individuals and fled into the forest, sustaining injuries in the process.

The two rescued persons Abubakar Saleh, 36, and Muhammad Inuwa Dille, 30 have since been reunited with their family, while the injured shepherd received immediate medical attention.

The NSCDC personnel had been deployed in the area to provide security coverage for an ongoing dam construction project and to protect grazing reserves and farming communities from criminal activity.

Kano State NSCDC Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical national assets, while urging members of the public to continue sharing credible information with security agencies to enable prompt responses to threats.
