"Humanity comes before religious difference" – Nigerian Muslim man says Christians and traditional believers are welcomed to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage

A Nigerian Muslim man, Taoheed Abdulwasiu Mustapha, has announced that any man interested in asking for his daughter’s hand in marriage should come forward, regardless of any religious difference.

Abdulwasiu, who stated this in a Facebook post on Friday, June 26, 2026 said his only requirements are that intending suitors come from good families, have good character and decent means of livelihood. 

According to him, humanity is at the core of his values and he won’t embrace any interpretation of religion that teaches him to hate people over religious difference. 

“If you’re a Christian or a traditional believer and you’re interested in asking for my daughter’s hand in marriage, you’re welcome to come forward,” he wrote.

 

“As long as you come from a good family, have good character, and have a decent means of livelihood, you have my respect. I will support you

 

“I’m a Muslim, but humanity is at the core of my values. I refuse to embrace any interpretation of religion that teaches me to hate, despise, or attack people simply because they follow a different faith.

“To me, humanity comes before religious differences.

 

“If my way of life doesn’t sit well with you, that’s your choice. Go and hug the transformer..
