Marcus Rashford has returned to Manchester United after Barcelona’s option to sign him permanently expired, bringing an end to the loan arrangement between the two clubs.
The buy clause would have allowed Barcelona to retain Rashford for a fee of €30 million.
According to ESPN, the agreement covered two seasons running through June 2026, with the purchase option structured to be paid across three €10 million instalments through 2028, an arrangement designed to ease pressure on Barcelona’s financial fair play position.
However, the June 15 deadline passed without the LaLiga giants triggering the option.
Rashford, who is currently with England at the 2026 World Cup, is expected to resume pre-season training under Manchester United manager Michael Carrick.
