Scenes from the protest at Omoyele Sowores court hearing this morning (video)

The area surrounding the Federal High Court in Abuja was transformed into a sea of passionate demonstrators this morning as citizens gathered to demand the immediate release of activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore during his scheduled court proceedings.

The atmosphere was electric with chants of “Free Sowore now!” echoing across the complex. Citizens from various walks of life converged early in the day, turning the judicial grounds into a focal point of public frustration and a rallying cry for justice and civil liberties.

Tensions flared during the demonstration when Department of State Services (DSS) officials attempted to restrict the crowd’s actions. A major point of contention arose when security operatives reportedly ordered demonstrators to stop documenting the event.

“How can the DSS tell us not to record them?” an outraged protester shouted, directly confronting the officers. The incident quickly drew a crowd, highlighting the growing friction between security forces trying to control the narrative and citizens asserting their fundamental right to document public actions.
