Tanimu rules out NPFL return

Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has ruled out an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League following his departure from Moroccan side Maghreb de Fès, insisting he still has unfinished business abroad despite enduring a difficult two years in his career.
According to Footy-Africa, the 23-year-old has revealed that it is too early to consider a move back to Nigeria and that he preferred to continue his career overseas, with clubs from the United Arab Emirates understood to be among those monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window.
Tanimu terminated his contract with Maghreb de Fès by mutual consent after a difficult spell in North Africa, citing a lack of trust from the coaching staff and limited playing opportunities as key factors behind his decision to leave.
The setback followed an equally frustrating stint in England, where Tanimu made 10 appearances for League One club Crawley Town without establishing himself as a regular starter.
Before his move to Crawley, the former Bendel Insurance defender had also spent time with Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars. The inconsistency across those spells has had consequences at international level, with Tanimu losing his place in the Super Eagles setup after earning three caps for the national team.
Despite the challenges of recent years, Tanimu’s reputation was built on genuine promise. He played a key role in helping Bendel Insurance win the Nigerian FA Cup before interest from clubs abroad materialised.
Now a free agent, the defender is said to be carefully evaluating his options, with stability and regular playing time his primary considerations as he seeks to revive his international ambitions.
