Troops rescue five kidnap v!ctims in Kaduna, search continues for missing persons

Troops deployed under Operation Enduring Peace have rescued five kidnap victims during a search-and-rescue operation in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources disclosed that the victims were rescued in the early hours of Sunday following a patrol operation by troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71, in the area.
According to the sources, troops on routine patrol at about 6:15 a.m. observed a vehicle parked by the roadside without occupants along the highway at Ungwan Gora village in Sanga Local Government Area.
The discovery prompted the troops to launch an immediate search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding bushes.
The operation led to the rescue of five abducted persons identified as Moses Samuel, 24; Samuel Timothy, 20; Godwin Audu, 14; Mohammed Mustapha, 20; and Mohammed Sale, 26.
The sources said the victims were believed to have been kidnapped by unidentified criminals before they were rescued by the troops.

Two of the rescued victims sustained injuries during the incident and were evacuated to the General Hospital, Gwantu, for medical treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two other passengers remain unaccounted for.
Military authorities said troops had intensified search efforts in the area to locate and rescue the remaining missing persons.
The sources added that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities along major highways and rural communities in the area.
They reaffirmed the commitment of security forces to safeguarding lives and property across the Joint Task Force operational area.
