Why do women endure such trauma? Nigerian doctor asks as woman makes out with abusive husband in her hospital bed hours after he battâ¬red her

A Nigerian doctor, Abdul Ahmad has narrated how he walked in on a 26-year-old woman intimately making out with her abusive husband in her hospital bed hours after he severely battered her.
According to him, the woman was brought to the hospital by the police in the early hours of Monday, June 15 and admitted with multiple injuries.
To his utter dismay, during a routine ward round eight hours later he found the battered woman lying in her husband’s arms while he fed her.
According to the doctor, the woman and her husband were kissing each other tenderly as if the incident never happened.
The incident left him wondering why some women choose to stay in abusive marriages.
“I’ve sworn never to get involved or take sides in any couple’s marital issues again,” he wrote.
“A 26-year-old woman was brought to the hospital by the Nigerian Police around 3 a.m. after her husband brutally beat her.
“The neighbors had to force the door open to rescue her, and her relatives immediately reported the matter to the nearest police station.
“She was admitted with multiple injuries: two dislocations (one on her shoulder and the other on her wrist) and a bleeding bite wound on her ear.
“Barely eight hours later, during my routine ward round, I walked in and saw her lying comfortably in her husband’s arms while he fed her. They were even kissing each other tenderly, as if the violent fight that led to a police report had never happened.
“I honestly don’t understand the kind of heart some women have. Why do they endure such trauma and stay in abusive marriages?
“I now feel deeply ashamed that I took her side initially and even advised her relatives on how to pursue justice.”
