World Cup 2026: South Africa deserve qualification spot – Troost-Ekong

Former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong believes South Africa deserved their place at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, DAILY POST reports.
Bafana Bafana finished top of their World Cup qualifying group that included the Super Eagles to earn a spot at the mundial for the first time since 2010.
The Super Eagles, meanwhile failed to qualify for the second consecutive edition, losing on penalities to Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of African playoffs.
Troost-Ekong claimed South Africa were more consistent during the qualifiers.
“Bafana were consistent in the qualifiers, and we were playing catch-up from the first game, and we dropped a lot of points, so at the end they qualified and we didn’t. So, they deserve to be at the World Cup,” the centre-back told Supersport.
South Africa will face South Korea in their last group stage game on Thursday.
