Zamfara Unveils Major Education Plan as Thousands of Girls Set to Benefit

After providing 12 buses for free transportation around the state, the Zamfara state government would construct an additional 20 schools for girls.

Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Education, disclosed this to reporters in Gusau, the state capital.

He claimed that in order to make student mobility easier, the vehicles have been sent to a few girls’ secondary schools throughout the state.

He declared, “One of the most strategic investments any society can make is the education of the girl child.”

“The Zamfara State Government’s decision to build 20 new schools and provide 12 buses dedicated to supporting girls’ education reflects our collective commitment to breaking barriers, expanding access, and ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to the future of our state,” he continued.

The commissioner stated, “When we educate a girl, we empower families, strengthen communities, and build a more prosperous Zamfara.”

He went on to describe the steps being taken by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to revive the education sector after a state of emergency was declared.

He clarified that the recent staff redeployments were intended to boost productivity, increase efficiency, and encourage professional development among ministry employees.

According to him, the ministry’s 14-Day Strategic Education Reform and Recovery program’s results were carefully reviewed and analyzed before the decision was made.

He underlined that the moves were meant to improve service delivery and inspire employees to work more efficiently rather than to penalize, victimize, or undermine any employee.

He added that the ministry will put students’ health and welfare first by expanding access to high-quality education and bolstering support for education for girls.

In order to restore the dignity of the teaching profession and improve the living conditions of 250 teachers who are now experiencing extreme financial difficulty, Mr. Gajam stated that the ministry was also planned major teacher training programs and support measures.

In order to lessen the financial strain on parents and pupils, he added, free textbooks will also be given to schools.

The official issued a warning to anyone who misused or diverted student-focused school resources.
