2027: APGA, Soludo endorse Tinubu’s re-election bid

The national leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, on Thursday expressed their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027.

They noted that APGA would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general election.

The Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party (South-East Zone), Chief Ojukwu Obakasi, made the declaration shortly after he was inaugurated as the leader of the City Boys Movement in the area at Umueze Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.

Chief Obakasi said, “Politics is all about interest, and the interest here is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. APGA, as our party, has no presidential candidate, and our candidate is Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.”

He added, “I am a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our party, and after our meeting, the party adopted Tinubu as our preferred presidential candidate. So, I am not here by accident; this is an instruction from above.”

He stated that most politicians in the South-East play politics based on sentiment, even when it is clear that there is no viable alternative in the coming election. According to him, the region’s tendency to act in isolation has remained a major challenge to politics and governance in Igboland.

“Our people are guilty of playing politics based on sentiment when the picture is clear,” he said.

“We urge Ndigbo not to waste their votes, and I am here to formally present myself as a true supporter of Tinubu,” he added.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the City Boys Movement in the Anambra West Local Government Area, Odikpo Ofozoba, said the movement comprises people of like minds drawn from different political parties across the South-East geopolitical zone.

“The City Boys Movement is made up of people of like minds. Members of the Labour Party in Abia, APGA in Anambra and former PDP members in Enugu State are all part of the organisation,” he said.

“We are working under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to coordinate the City Boys Movement, and that is why we are here.”

“We are working with APGA to deliver Tinubu because progressives are working together, and that is the essence of the City Boys Movement,” he added.
