Actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has weighed in on the ongoing “Olodo uprising” conversation, arguing that the issue goes beyond ignorance.

In a post shared on her Instagram story, she said what many describe as an “Olodo uprising” is actually the consequence of a system that has consistently devalued education, excellence and intellectual achievement.

According to her, people cannot be expected to spend years earning degrees only to face unemployment or poor pay. She added that when survival becomes the priority, people naturally gravitate towards opportunities that work for them.

Mary concluded by saying the blame should not be placed on people for adapting, but on the system that has made education feel like a poor investment.
