Analysts taken aback by extended Trump ovation

This Video Is Trending Right Now
Political analysts Sam Stein and Ben Parker mocked an extraordinarily prolonged standing ovation at the end of President Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency speech, during which he unveiled his “Ratepayer Protection Pledge.”
During an episode of the “Bulwark Takes,” Stein described Trump’s rambling address as “classically Trump,” mixing ratepayer protection policy with references to baseball player Shohei Ohtani and Iran.
However, the analysts focused their ridicule on the roughly one-minute standing ovation that followed Trump’s departure.
“We have like a very Kim Jong Un scene here where the clapping just does not stop,” Stein said, before playing a clip of the scene.
Parker joked the attendees must have expected Ohtani to appear and joked, “That is the kind of thing you hear about happening in like Stalinist Soviet Union, and Castro’s Cuba.”
Stein drew parallels to a 2018 incident when Vice President Mike Pence oddly mimicked Trump’s water bottle behavior.
