BREAKING: Kano LG Chairman Recently Removed From Office Returns To His Tailoring Business
A former chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area in Kano State, Hon. Abdullahi Ghali Basaf, has reportedly returned to his tailoring business after being removed from office by the court.
Basaf was recently sacked following a judgment delivered by a High Court in Kano, which nullified his election and ordered that another candidate be sworn in as the duly elected chairman of the local government.
The judgment was delivered on Tuesday by Justice Abdu Maiwada Abubakar, who ruled that the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Basaf was invalid because it violated an earlier court order.
The lawsuit was filed by Ali Musa Hardworker against the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Basaf, and the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC).
In his ruling, Justice Abubakar declared that Hardworker was the rightful winner of the Kumbotso Local Government chairmanship election and directed that he be sworn into office. > “The Certificate of Return issued to Ghali Abdullahi Basaf is hereby nullified for being in violation of an earlier court order,” the judge ruled.
The court also directed KANSIEC to comply fully with an earlier judgment delivered on October 25, 2024, emphasizing that all parties must respect and obey judicial decisions. > “All parties must adhere to judicial decisions,” the court added.
Following his removal from office, Basaf has reportedly resumed his tailoring profession, drawing attention on social media, where many have commended him for returning to his previous trade instead of remaining idle.
The development has continued to generate mixed reactions, with some describing it as a reflection of humility and resilience, while others view it as a reminder of the importance of respecting court rulings and the rule of law.
