Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga was acquitted of sexual assault by a Norwegian appeal court, overturning a previous verdict that sentenced him to six months in prison.
Molde FK, his club, announced the judgment in a statement issued on Thursday following the Frostating Court of Appeal’s majority verdict.
Daga was convicted in March for suspected sexual assault against an unknown woman in April 2025.
He was legally prosecuted on December 19, and Molde barred him from playing for the first team indefinitely after his conviction.
After the appeals court overturned the conviction, the club stated that the 19-year-old “will be available to play for Molde FK in the future.”
Daniel Daga was unanimously acquitted in the criminal case reviewed by the Frostating Court of Appeals.
Molde FK takes note of the ruling, even if it is not yet official,” the club stated.
The club added: “The club realizes that this has been a severe and stressful situation for everyone involved.
“Since the indictment was filed, Molde FK has made ongoing assessments based on the situation and the club’s responsibility as an employer.”
Daga joined Molde at the start of the 2025 season and has played 15 games for the Norwegian club, scoring three goals.
