Ghanaian actor and comedian Wayoosi has issued a strong call on President John Dramani Mahama to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and dismiss Sports Minister Kofi Adams, following Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a video that has since circulated widely on social media, Wayoosi did not hold back in expressing his frustration with the current state of Ghanaian football administration.
“Mr. President, dissolve the GFA and also sack Sports Minister Kofi Adams if he is not competent enough for the job. We cannot sit back and watch our Black Stars fall into ruin because of a few individuals,” Wayoosi said.
The actor’s comments add to a growing chorus of public criticism directed at the country’s football leadership following the Black Stars’ campaign at the tournament.
Ghana had qualified for the World Cup after a hard-fought campaign, with President Mahama, the GFA, and players all receiving praise at the time for securing the nation’s ticket to the global showpiece.
However, the team’s performance at the tournament itself has reignited long-standing frustrations among Ghanaians over the management of the national team, with some citizens and public figures questioning the competence of those currently overseeing football administration in the country.
Kofi Adams has previously faced criticism over his handling of sports affairs, with some Ghanaians on social media suggesting as far back as April 2025 that he could eventually be dismissed if his performance did not improve.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency, the Sports Ministry, nor the GFA had issued an official response to Wayoosi’s comments.
