Donald Trump swipes at UK again as NATO relations crumble – 'Not there for us!'

Donald Trump has taken another wild swipe at the UK and other NATO members as a whole as increasingly strained relations wsith the defence alliance appear close to collapse. The US President took to Truth Social to share a graphic illustrating the spending contributions from the US and other NATO members towards the alliance, showing the huge differences in spending between America and the likes of the UK, France, Italy and Poland.

Mr Trump, who has launched several attacks over recent months accusing fellow NATO members of not contributing enough to defence, unleashed yet another furious outburst on Truth Social. He wrote: “Ridiculous for the U.S.A. to continue along this one sided path when the relationship is not reciprocal. They were not there for us!!! President DJT.”

The US President has repeatedly criticised NATO members, arguing that many countries in the alliance are not contributing enough to their own defence.

He has even suggested that the United States could reconsider its commitment to NATO if allies fail to provide what he views as adequate support, particularly during periods of tension involving Iran.

Trump has also indicated that NATO members should show stronger and more consistent loyalty to Washington. These remarks drew criticism from Germany, which rejected the idea that alliance partners should offer unconditional support to the United States.

Germany was among the countries specifically mentioned in Trump’s latest post on Truth Social, highlighting ongoing disagreements over burden-sharing, defence spending, and the nature of transatlantic cooperation within the alliance.
