EFCC releases Peter Obi’s supporters after 11-hour grilling

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released two supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, after they spent about 11 hours at the agency’s headquarters following an invitation.

The supporters, Randy Peter and Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, were released late Wednesday after several hours of engagement with officials of the anti-graft agency.

Their release came amid growing concerns on social media, where supporters and associates questioned their whereabouts after news emerged that they had been invited by the commission.

Confirming the development in a statement posted on social media, fellow activist Justice Cracks said he accompanied the duo to the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday, July 15, at about 1:00 p.m. after they received the invitation.

He explained that the engagement lasted for several hours before both activists were allowed to leave the commission’s office shortly after midnight.

“My dear brother, Randy Peter, and my sister, Mama Pee, were invited by the EFCC. I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. It was a very long day,” he said.

According to him, the activists were released at about 12:00 a.m. and instructed to return to the commission the following day.

“They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026. For now, everything is fine,” Justice Cracks added.

The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement on the invitation or the nature of its engagement with the two activists.
