Ekiti University Seeks Stronger Police Partnership Over Campus Security

Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti, Professor James Olugbenga Aribisala, has called for closer security collaboration with the Ekiti State Police Command.
He made the appeal on Tuesday while leading the institution’s management team on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, at the Command Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said the visit was intended to reinforce the existing relationship between the university and the police, while boosting security for the lives, property, students and staff of the institution.
During the visit, Professor Aribisala praised the Commissioner and his officers for their dedication to maintaining peace within the university community, acknowledging the Command’s swift response to security concerns and appealing for continued partnership to further protect the institution and its surroundings.
He stressed that a secure academic environment is essential to achieving excellence in learning, and assured the police of the university’s ongoing cooperation in upholding peace, law and order.
In response, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael thanked the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the visit, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to working with the university to protect lives and property.
He assured the management of full support from the Command and pledged to strengthen intelligence-led policing, proactive security strategies and stakeholder engagement to maintain peace across tertiary institutions in Ekiti State.
Both parties concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to deepen cooperation through continuous information sharing and strategic engagement aimed at preventing crime and fostering a safe environment for teaching, learning and research.
