Operatives of the Gombe State Police Command have arrested suspected armed robbery suspects, recovered a stolen vehicle and seized suspected housebreaking tools in separate operations conducted within the last 24 hours.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He said the operations reflected the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
According to him, police operatives arrested one Micah Nuhu over alleged armed robbery and causing grievous bodily harm after he reportedly attacked a woman, identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph, with a pestle before fleeing with her purse.
The stolen purse was later recovered, while the victim was taken to the Cottage Hospital, Bambam, for medical treatment.
Abdullahi said the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) had taken over the case and was continuing efforts to apprehend another suspect, identified as Mubarak, who remains at large.
In a separate operation, police arrested Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, at a hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects included 39 master keys and a screwdriver, which police suspect were intended for housebreaking activities.
The Command also recovered a Toyota Yaris reportedly stolen after its owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked by unidentified assailants.
Police said the victim was allegedly stabbed and thrown out of the vehicle at Tumu-Kashere Junction before the suspects abandoned the car near the Army Barracks.
Ahmed was taken to the Gombe State Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the recovered vehicle has been secured at a police station pending the conclusion of investigations by the SCID.
The Police Command said investigations into the incidents were ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to bringing all those involved to justice.
