Gov. Lawal presents 50 vehicles to NURTW to ease interstate transportation

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara on Wednesday presented 50 vehicles to the National Union of Road Transport Workers ((NURTW) to reduce the challenges of local transportation in the state.
Mr Lawal, who made the presentation in Gusau said the vehicles were provided as part of an effort to ease intra and inter state movement for travelers.
Mr Lawal said the vehicles were provided at 50 percent cost to the NURTW while additional 50 vehicles would soon be provided to the union to complete the 100 units.
Mr Lawal said the vehicles, (18 seater buses) would boost economic activities and increase the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
The governor said the initiative is in line with his commitment to revitalizing key sectors of the economy and fulfilling the promises of his campaign.
According to him, the distribution marks the first phase of the state government’s support to the union with 50 of the planned 100 buses handed over to NURTW members across Zamfara State.
The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities, improve public transportation, stimulate economic activities, and enhance the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.
Mr Lawal also presented seven modern Fire Fighting vehicles to the Zamfara State Fire Service.
He said the new firefighting trucks would strengthen the state’s emergency response capacity and improve the protection of lives and property from fire outbreaks.
