Hamas dissolves Gaza government in symbolic step toward transfer of tower

Hamas has announced the dissolution of the “Emergency Committee,” the administrative body overseeing governance in Gaza, in what observers describe as a symbolic step toward a future transfer of power to the technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).
In a statement, the Hamas-led administration said civil servants across the Gaza Strip would continue carrying out their duties without interruption, stressing that they remain “public employees” prepared to operate under the authority of the NCAG.
The group also stated that all necessary administrative arrangements for the handover process had been completed.
Despite the announcement, the development is seen largely as a symbolic gesture with limited immediate impact on governance in the enclave.
Analysts say the move is aimed at signaling Hamas’ readiness to relinquish administrative control of Gaza to the National Committee, in line with the 20-point Gaza framework proposed by US President Donald Trump.
