Horrific video shows men trapped inside train as intense wildfire closes in

Crew members aboard a freight train in Ontario were left genuinely terrified when the unthinkable unfolded during their shift on Tuesday.

As of this morning, more than 830 wildfires are blazing across Canada, predominantly in west-central Ontario. Harrowing footage captures the alarming moment a train carrying workers and flammable materials became engulfed by a raging wildfire.

The clip, shared by lawmaker Sol Mamakwa, shows the enormous wall of flames near Armstrong, Ontario.

Frightened workers can be heard desperately discussing their options. “This could potentially overtake us here. This is getting a little scary,” one worker warned the operator as conditions rapidly deteriorated.

“Holy s-,” he then exclaimed, as a colleague began filming the terrifying ordeal on his mobile phone.

“While there is no immediate threat to public safety, emergency responders and railway officials are working together to assess conditions and support ongoing safety measures,” the Ontario Provincial Police stated. Authorities also urged members of the public to avoid the area and stay away from the railway corridor while the blaze continued to spread.

Of the 838 wildfires in Canada, 719 are considered to be out of control. 2.96 million acres of land have been burned in Canada this year alone.

Diminished soil moisture and intensified drought conditions suggest that climate change is fuelling the growing frequency and magnitude of Canada’s wildland fires.

As the wildfires continue to rage across Canada, shifting winds are directing smoke straight into the United States, creating hazardous air quality for millions of residents across the upper Midwest and Northeast throughout the remainder of the week.

“Ok, y’all need to hurry up here. Like seriously, we’re encased in flames,” the man stated.

Another worker inside the train grew increasingly frantic, crying out: “This has got to move f-ing quicker.”

According to Superior North News, operations were brought to a standstill after the wildfire tore through the area, given that Canadian National Railway trains were transporting combustible materials.

A company spokesperson confirmed to the local news outlet that all personnel were subsequently evacuated from the trains overnight.

On Wednesday morning, thick smoke had engulfed northern Wisconsin, while Duluth, Minnesota, and Marquette, Michigan, were similarly blanketed in dense, heavy smoke.

This surge of smoke is coinciding with a nationwide bout of extreme heat. The Northeast and upper Midwest are expected to bear the brunt of the Canadian wildfire smoke, with temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday forecast to climb into the high 90s and triple digits.

On a more positive note, rainfall is anticipated on Friday across the upper Midwest and on Saturday for the Northeast, which should provide some much-needed relief from the choking smoke.
