Industrial Court Annual Vacation Starts 31 July

The Hon. President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), His Lordship Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, OFR, has formally declared the court’s annual vacation period for the year 2026.
In line with Order 58 Rule 4(1)(c) of the NICN Civil Procedure Rules, 2017, the vacation will run from Friday, 31 July 2026 to Monday, 28 September 2026.
During this period, the court will not sit, except for urgent applications where the res of a case may be destroyed if not heard promptly. Such matters will be handled exclusively by a designated vacation judge.
Normal court sittings are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
“In exercise of the powers conferred on me under Order 58 Rule 4 (1) (c) of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2017, and all other powers enabling me in that respect, I. Hon. Justice B. B. Kanyip, PhD, OFR, FNIALS, FCTI, FCIArb, President, National Industrial Court of Nigeria, hereby declare that the court shall proceed on 2026 Annual Vacation beginning from Friday 31 July 2026 to Monday 28 September 2026.” the statement reads in part.
