The Kano State Hisbah Board has prohibited the downloading and distribution of movies via mobile phones across the state’s 44 local government areas, saying the move is aimed at safeguarding public morality and upholding Islamic values.
The directive was announced Thursday in a WhatsApp message from the board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, who confirmed that the ban now covers all local government areas in the state.
According to him, the decision followed complaints that some operators were distributing pornographic content and other material considered incompatible with Islamic teachings and the cultural values upheld in Kano State.
He added that Hisbah personnel have since been deployed across the state to enforce the ban and ensure compliance.
