Businessman, former presidential aspirant, and outspoken NPP MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has reportedly acquired Platinum Plastics, one of Ghana’s leading plastics manufacturing companies, according to reports circulating online.
The acquisition, if confirmed, marks yet another expansion of Agyapong’s sprawling business empire, which already spans media, real estate, agriculture, and manufacturing.
Reports indicate that workers at the facility have already begun operations under the new ownership, with further details expected to emerge in the coming days.
The move fits a familiar pattern for the Assin Central legislator, who has in recent years positioned himself as a major player in Ghana’s local manufacturing and industrialisation drive, having previously been linked to a rubber factory in Tema employing hundreds of workers, as well as agro-processing ventures including a cassava factory in the Bono region.
Should the acquisition be confirmed, it would further cement Kennedy Agyapong’s reputation as one of the country’s most prolific business figures, with holdings that already include Oman FM, Net 2 TV, Ashh FM, Supercare Group, and multiple real estate portfolios across Accra, Tema, and Kumasi.
