Kidnapped Nasarawa varsity professor rescued, suspects arrested

Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have rescued a lecturer at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, Professor Samuel Okunsebor, who was abducted by gunmen.

Okunsebor, the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture at the university, was said to have been abducted on Wednesday at Mile Uku, a boundary community between Lafia and Nasarawa Eggon LGAs of the state.

According to a security expert, Zagazola Makama, gunmen attacked the community at midnight on Wednesday.

He said that the DSS operatives successfully located and rescued the professor at about 3:00 pm on Friday following intelligence-driven operations.

DSS operatives handed over the professor to his family members in the presence of senior officials of the university, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Kitso Ngbargu.

The security expert further revealed that Okunsebor was subsequently taken to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital for medical evaluation and routine medical checks.

Recall that in June, three students of the Federal University of Lafia, FULafia, were abducted by unidentified gunmen.

The students were reportedly taken from their residence near the university’s temporary campus in Akunza, Lafia.
