LASTMA Hotline Records Over 2,800 Public Reports in First Month

In an effort to increase openness and citizen participation, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, or LASTMA.

Reported that its recently launched toll-free hotline registered 2,843 public engagements in its first 30 days of operation.

The agency’s Digital Center, which oversees the 3367 toll-free contact center, provided the data, which span June 28 to July 29, 2026.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has disclosed a breakdown of engagements received through its toll-free call centre, describing the volume as a reflection of growing public confidence in the agency.

According to LASTMA, the calls included 1,047 enquiry calls, 709 commendation calls, 468 successfully resolved cases, and 400 accident and vehicle breakdown reports.

Others were 163 formal complaints, 11 information requests, and 45 unsuccessful calls attributed to abandoned calls, network issues and technical contingencies.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the response as a profound affirmation of the agency’s unwavering pursuit of operational excellence, institutional integrity, administrative transparency and service delivery.

He said the volume of calls demonstrated growing public confidence in LASTMA as a responsive institution committed to road safety and traffic order across Lagos.

Beyond the call centre, Bakare-Oki disclosed that LASTMA has also established a Physical Complaint Centre at its headquarters in Oshodi, to allow residents who prefer face-to-face engagement to lodge complaints and make enquiries.

He explained that the centre complements the agency’s toll-free call centre by giving members of the public who prefer direct interaction a convenient platform to report traffic-related concerns, seek clarifications, and lodge complaints about the conduct of its officers.

He added that every complaint received is treated with utmost seriousness and subjected to thorough investigation in strict compliance with established administrative procedures, extant regulations and the principles of natural justice.

Reiterating the agency’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, extortion and unprofessional conduct, Bakare-Oki stated that every genuine complaint received through any of the agency’s reporting channels would be subjected to an impartial, transparent and exhaustive investigation, and that any officer found culpable, following due process, would be sanctioned in accordance with the extant Public Service Rules and the agency’s disciplinary framework.

He noted that both the toll-free line and the physical centre are integral pillars of LASTMA’s broader institutional reform agenda aimed at entrenching transparency, strengthening public trust, and improving communication with road users.

He therefore appealed to motorists, commuters, transport operators, corporate organisations and civil society groups to make responsible use of the channels, stressing that public participation is critical to achieving safer roads and a more efficient transportation system in Lagos.
