LPPC Elevates 68 Lawyers, One Academic To SAN Rank

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 68 legal practitioners and one academic to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for the 2026 conferment exercise.

The decision was announced at the committee’s 174th Plenary Session held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Secretary of the LPPC, Kabir Eniola Akanbi, the rank of SAN is awarded to legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction either in advocacy before the courts or through outstanding contributions to legal scholarship.

Among the successful advocates are: Adebayo Folorunsho Ologe, Adetunji Taiwo Adedoyin- Adeniyi, Ibrahim Gamdeh Adamu, Jude Chukwuemeka Okafor, Godwill Achibong Umoh, Sunday Samuel Obende, Adebayo Olugbenga Adaralegbe, Jimson Ejovi Okodaso, Olalekan Lawrence Bade-John, Olaotan Thomas Olusegun, Philemeon Audu Daffi, Adenrele David Adegborioye, James Eromosele Agbonhese, Alexander Nduka Muoka, Onome Okodiya, Emmanuel Akunke Akomaye, Ikhide Ehighelua, Mas’ud Mobolaji Alabelewe, Ogunmuyiwa Olayinka Balogun, Anthony Auditz Iroagalachi, Mohammed Tajudeen Mohammed, Odion Peter Odia and 46 other distinguished lawyers listed by the committee. 

The sole successful academic applicant is Prof. Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri.

The LPPC directed all successful applicants to participate in the mandatory Pre-Swearing-In Induction Programme organised in line with the directives of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN). Attendance and successful completion of the programme are compulsory before the conferment of the rank.

The committee also reminded the successful applicants to comply with Paragraph 25(1) of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Guidelines and Rule 39(3) of the Rules of Professional Conduct, 2023, by refraining from publishing or encouraging congratulatory advertisements relating to their elevation.

The swearing-in ceremony for the 69 successful applicants is scheduled to take place on October 12, 2026.
