Man Sparks Debate After Claiming Date Hid Marriage Status After ₦60k Dinner

After alleging that a woman he met online only disclosed her marital status after spending thousands of naira on their first meeting, a man expressed his dismay.

Before they finally decided to meet in person, they had been conversing for a while and he had even been sending her money, he explained in a widely shared video on social media.

He claims that the woman selected a well-known restaurant for their date and insisted on meeting in public.

He said he met the woman after connecting online, explaining that when he invited her to his house, she declined and insisted they meet somewhere open instead, going on to select the restaurant herself.

The man claimed that before he arrived, the woman had already started eating and continued ordering more food throughout the date, leaving him with a bill of nearly ₦60,000.

He explained that he did not complain because he wanted her to enjoy herself, believing she was genuinely hungry.

He added that he spent almost ₦60,000 on food alone for their first date, and that afterward, they booked a ride to his house, but on the way, she told him she was married, something she had never disclosed despite the money he had been sending her even before they met.

His story has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users sharing mixed opinions about honesty, online dating and first-date expectations.
